Dr. Beasley’s Timber Coat Kit is a complete kit for cleaning and protecting open pore wood veneer trim on vehicle interiors. The kit includes Timber Cleanser to lift out and remove dirt and grime and Timber Coat to protect the surface against stains and embedding contaminants. Unlike conventional interior care products, these are engineered solutions for the open pore wood substrate and will not alter the appearance or texture in any way. Optional accessories including application brush and microfiber towels available.

  • Safely Cleans Open Pore Wood Veneer
  • Protects Against Pore-Embedding Grime
  • Maintains Texture & Appearance
  • Great for Vehicle Interiors & Furniture

Open pore wood veneer trim is more common than ever on vehicle interiors, with major vehicle manufacturers like Rivian, Tesla and BMW now featuring the material on select models. This unique trim adds a rustic yet refined atmosphere to the interior, bringing the wonders of the natural world inside your mobile sanctuary.

Yet the very quality that make open pore wood so appealing - a porous, unvarnished grain texture — is also what makes it so difficult to maintain.

Why It’s Hard to Keep Open Pore Wood Looking Good

Unlike smooth interior surfaces like plastic, vinyl and leather, open pore wood trim is textured and, well, porous. On top of that, it has a totally unprotected finish — so that porous, ridged texture practically sucks up grime and liquids. Most cleaners and protectants aren’t equipped for this. Here’s why:

  • Embedded Contaminants: Conventional cleaners struggle to pull out grime embedded in the pores.
  • Discoloring Surface: Some cleaners can fade the wood’s color.
  • Wearing Away Texture: Aggressive cleaners that are too harsh can wear at the unvarnished texture.
  • Sticky, Oily Conditioners: Oil-based conditioners designed to protect finished wood add a sticky residue that attracts contamination and leaves a greasy sheen

Our Solution for Open Pore Wood Maintenance

Inspired by the open pore wood trim in his own Rivian R1S, Dr. Beasley’s Founder & Chemist Jim Lafeber developed products for cleaning and protecting this unique surface: Timber Cleanser and Timber Coat.

Timber Cleanser lifts out, breaks down and removes embedded grime and contamination inside the pores without fading the color or altering the texture.

Timber Coat bonds an invisible, imperceptible barrier with the wood surface, creating a hydrophobic shield against stains, grime and everyday wear-and-tear.

Kit includes:

Timber Cleanser — 4oz (x1)
Timber Coat — 2oz (x1)
