High self-cleaning abilities

BEST PRACTICES & PRO-TIPS

Q² Rim EVO requires only one thick layer, but if you desire to prolong its durability, the product can be layered. Allow a minimum of a 1-hour period between layers. The coating is suitable for application on all finishes of glossy and matte rims.

TIP: Apply Q² Rim in sections. Since it is a drying and curing formula, large and intricately shaped rims should be divided into numerous smaller sections.

Iron Cleaner

Preparation is key to proper coating adhesion. Use GYEON Iron Remover to thoroughly clean and prep the surface.

WetCoat

Gyeon WetCoat is essential for coating and maintaining wheels. It's a straightforward spray and rinse off process.

TEMPERATURE RESISTANT

Wheels, following the engine bay, brake calipers, and exhausts, are the components most exposed to high temperatures. Q² Rim exhibits an endurance capability that exceeds 800ºC without compromising its original properties. The exclusive dedication of this ceramic coating to rims is an asset and introduces a new level of quality within the realm of rim protection.

GYEON Q² Rim EVO 30 ml – Ceramic Wheel Coating

GYEON Q² Rim EVO is a ceramic wheel coating that helps reduce the adhesion of brake dust and road contamination. Applied to thoroughly prepared wheels, it creates a protective, water-repellent surface that makes regular cleaning easier.

The formula is designed for the heat cycles and contamination wheels encounter in daily use. It suits a range of finishes, including painted, powder-coated, anodised and polished wheels, with compatibility testing where needed. Rim EVO adds colour depth while retaining the character of glossy or matte finishes rather than intentionally turning every wheel high-gloss.

Key Benefits

  • Easier brake-dust removal: Helps contamination release during washing.
  • Wheel-specific protection: Developed for demanding wheel conditions and heat exposure.
  • Hydrophobic performance: Encourages water release and supports easier maintenance.
  • Broad finish compatibility: Suitable for common wheel finishes when properly prepared.
  • Colour enrichment: Can deepen the appearance without requiring a glossy dressing.

  5. Level and wipe promptly; current guidance specifies approximately 10–30 seconds after application. Watch the product’s behaviour and follow the manual.
  6. Inspect from multiple angles and keep the coating dry for at least the first 12 hours. Follow the supplied manual for full curing and aftercare.

Application Tips and Things to Watch For

Keep coating away from brake friction surfaces, tire tread and other areas not intended for treatment. If coating compatible clear-coated calipers, work carefully and avoid overspray or transfer onto braking components.

Clean wheels still need regular maintenance after coating. Do not leave heavy brake dust in place indefinitely or rely on the coating to repair corrosion, peeling lacquer or curb damage. A test area is useful where colour darkening would matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Rim EVO be used on matte wheels?

Yes. It is suitable for matte and glossy wheel finishes. It can enrich or darken colour, so test a discreet area first if preserving an exact appearance is important.

Do the wheels have to be removed?

Accessible faces can be coated on the vehicle. Full barrel coverage is easier with access to the entire wheel. Only remove wheels if you can do so safely and reinstall them correctly.

Will it prevent brake dust completely?

No. Braking will continue to generate dust. The benefit is reduced adhesion and easier cleaning, not a wheel that never gets dirty.

How should coated wheels be cleaned?

Use a suitable maintenance shampoo or compatible wheel cleaner, soft tools and a thorough rinse. Reserve stronger contamination-removal steps for when they are actually needed.

Is 30 ml enough for one set?

GYEON lists typical consumption at 15–20 ml per set. Wheel size, design, barrel coverage and application technique affect the amount needed, so treat that as a planning guide.

Consider if you've already clayed, ironed, and prepped the wheel; the next steps are fairly easy. It's a simple apply and wipe off process. GYEON Rim reacts and adheres quickly, eliminating the need to let the product sit for 5 minutes before wiping off. Simply work in small sections and casually wipe it off as you go.

All GYEON coatings can be applied outdoors. Ensure stable conditions, never use in direct sunlight and check the weather forecast!

Brake calipers, wheels, chrome, aluminum, powder coat—all okay. While some paint coatings can be applied to wheels, GYEON Rim is formulated to adhere to different types of surfaces with varying surface porosity, ensuring longer-lasting protection in high-wear areas.

Increased 'heat-cycles' (repeated heat and cool cycle) tolerance as well as increased durability by 50%.

In 2021, GYEON took a significant leap forward by revamping our entire paint coating lineup, now collectively known as EVO. Two years later, GYEON takes pride in having achieved similar advancements with the remainder of our coatings. All EVO coatings guarantee ease of application and boast up to 50% more durability and resistance in everyday use.

GYEON Rim FAQs

This depends on several factors. On high-wear areas such as wheels, brake calipers, and exhausts, GYEON Rim can last at least around one year, and this duration can be extended to two years with multi-layers. Further extension is possible with proper maintenance using GYEON WetCoat.

No, but it will enhance the matte finish to a richer appearance, similar to applying lotion on dry hands. GYEON Rim is fully matte compatible.

Work in small areas, tackling 2 to 4 spokes at a time, and promptly wipe off GYEON Rim right away, no need to wait for it to 'flash'.

Layering time is between 1 to 4 hours, and full curing occurs within 48 hours. You can take the vehicle out after 12 hours.

30ml will be sufficient to cover a set of four typical 19" x 9" wheels with two coats. Or 8 rims.

It can be applied using an airbrush for high-complexity wheels.

The vehicle can be driven the next day, or approximately 12 hours later. It is advisable to avoid exposing the coating to water within the first 24 hours.

A temperature of at least 10°C is recommended, although you can still attempt the application between 5°C to 10°C if necessary. If the temperature reaches 30°C, then it's on the warmer side, and you will need to retreat into the shade.

Either maintain with GYEON WetCoat or Bathe+; both products can be used as often as you like.

High spots refer to dried coatings that were not completely buffed off. If you catch the high spots within 30 minutes, you can use the coating itself again to level/soften the high spots. If it's been a few days, then you'll need to mechanically polish it off or use Gyeon Total Remover to remove and reapply coating on the affected area.

Officially, Gyeon recommends the product to be used within 2 to 3 years when new. If the bottle has been opened, it's best to use up the product in 1 to 2 months to preserve the coating's maximum effectiveness.

No problem at all. Coatings contain a significant amount of solvents and exhibit high chemical stability. For more details regarding winter shipping, please refer to our FAQ section on winter shipping.

GYEON Rim will likely become your motorcycle's best friend, as it can be applied to exhausts and all metal parts. If you have an airbrush, coating the entire motor compartment becomes a breeze.

Rim can also be applied to matte or satin wheels without adding additional 'sheen'. What it does, however, is enrich matte finishes and prevent them from looking too 'chalky'.
