Cleaning Matte Paint, Satin PPF and Matte Wraps

Low-gloss finishes need a wash routine that cleans without adding unwanted shine. CARPRO Reset Matte is formulated for matte paint, satin paint protection film and matte wraps, with no wax or gloss enhancers. It is a maintenance shampoo for these finishes, rather than a polish or a way to change their sheen.

How to Wash with Reset Matte

Use the manufacturer's listed 1:400 dilution and follow the current label for mixing and application.

  1. Work on a cool vehicle out of direct sunlight. Pre-rinse loose dirt and grit before touching the finish.
  2. Prepare the wash solution and use a clean, soft wash mitt. Wash in manageable sections with light pressure, working from cleaner areas toward dirtier lower panels.
  3. Rinse the mitt frequently and keep wheel and tire tools separate. Do not let shampoo dry on the surface.
  4. Rinse thoroughly, then dry gently with a clean microfiber drying towel. Follow the paint, PPF or wrap manufacturer's care instructions around edges, seams and repaired areas.

Aftercare for Low-Gloss Finishes

Continue using care products approved for the specific matte or satin finish. Avoid adding a conventional gloss-enhancing wax, polish or dressing as part of the wash routine unless the finish manufacturer explicitly permits it. For stubborn contamination, use an approved cleaner and a gentle process rather than increasing scrubbing pressure. Clean and dry wash tools after use to keep grit out of the next wash.
