BEST PRACTICES & PRO-TIPS
Ensure thorough cleaning of the leather, removing any excess cleaner. We highly recommend using one of our Q²M LeatherCleaners. Before applying the product to the entire upholstery, conduct a test panel.
TIP: Apply the product to one panel at a time, ensuring even coverage. Do not wipe off. In case you observe uneven drying, level the product without adding more liquid. Check after 20 minutes; if necessary, wipe. For advanced users, we recommend using a Q²M MF Applicator.
preparation
Prep is key to removing all soils and ensuring proper coating adhesion.
Deep clean
Using leather cleaner in conjunction with a horsehair brush ensures that all the pores are thoroughly cleaned.
Maintenance
GYEON Interior Detailer is gentle enough not to harm Leather Shield, making it a prime candidate for maintenance.
Dye and UV resistant
GYEON Leather Shield provides strong resistance against dye transfer, fading, and UV damage. This is essential, especially if you have white Tesla seats (works on vegan leather), which are notorious for dye transfer. It also acts as a shield to protect against sunscreen, makeup, and spills. Dries to a matte OEM finish.

Applying GYEON Leather Shield is a little different than applying paint coatings. Leather Shield does not require a buff off; simply apply it and let it get absorbed into the leather and will dry by itself. It's that easy.
All GYEON coatings can be applied outdoors. Ensure stable conditions, never use in direct sunlight and check the weather forecast!
Will not block or plug perforated seats. As you can see from the picture above, it actually prevents liquids from entering the perforation!
Q² LeatherShield EVO represents an advanced and reworked SiO2-based formula specifically developed for all modern automotive leather upholstery types. It offers excellent protection against dirt, UV rays, and the demands of daily use. This new formula is remarkably easy to apply, requiring only one layer. Tested on and designed for all modern leather types, it ensures substantial protection without altering the feel or color, leaving a fully OEM matte finish. Q² LeatherShield EVO does not stiffen, clog leather pores, or create a slippery surface, preserving the regular comfort of use. Note: Avoid using on open structure, aniline, or semi-aniline leather upholstery. For such surfaces, use Q² LeatherCoat REDEFINED.
GYEON Leather Shield FAQs
This depends on several factors. On high-wear areas such as the driver's seat, it can last up to a year, whereas the back seats that see less traffic can expect 1-2 years, longer if maintained with GYEON Leather Coat.
You don't! Simply apply and let the liquid dry on its own to achieve an even, streak-free matte finish.
At least 1 hour after drying, usually between 1 to 6 hours.
Will use anywhere between 25 to 35ml per coat (5-seater), depending on whether you're covering the door inserts and other areas or not.
Leather Shield can only be applied to soft-touch materials, whether vinyl or leather, but it must be a soft-touch surface and not hard trims.
At least 24 hours after drying. Of course, the longer you let it cure, the better. However, there's no need to wait a week; after 48 hours, it should be fully cured.
A temperature of at least 10°C is recommended, although you can still attempt the application between 5°C to 10°C if necessary. If the temperature reaches 30°C, then it's on the warmer side, and you will need to retreat into the shade.
It does, but if you're asking because you're worried that it may distort the 'new car smell,' then fear not—the light coating smell will dissipate in a day or two.
You can use products like Gyeon Leather Coat, Interior Detailer, Leather Cleaner etc., as frequently as you'd like.
You won't get high spots with Leather Shield; it dries to a matte finish. If it does happen, you won't be able to see or feel it anyway.
Officially, Gyeon recommends the product to be used within 2 to 3 years when new. If the bottle has been opened, it's best to use up the product in 1 to 2 months to preserve the coating's maximum effectiveness.
No. Use GYEON Fabric Coat instead.
No problem at all. Coatings contain a significant amount of solvents and exhibit high chemical stability. For more details regarding winter shipping, please refer to our FAQ section on winter shipping.
No, it does not. Don't think of it as putting a layer of 'something' on top of the leather. How Leather Shield works is that it gets absorbed into the pores instead, not forming a 'thick layer of something' on top of the surface. Your leather will still be breathable after coating.
Indeed, one of the best. It's hard to find a product that's so easy to apply, won't leave high spots, is durable, and cures to a matte OEM finish. There's a reason why this is one of GYEON's signature products. It can also be used on bike leather jackets to make bug cleaning easier.
Just keep in mind that it can be applied to most leather finishes, but not to aniline or semi-aniline leather. Basically, the leather surface needs to feel 'smooth' like a car seat and not 'fuzzy'.
